Lights, Camera, Magazine!
Minutes before the arrival of Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, the ballroom of Bangkok’s Sukhothai Hotel was buzzing with excitement. Her Royal Highness had graciously presided over the official launch of At Leisure magazine held in conjunction with the At Leisure Siam Exhibition. Executives of the magazine as well as other dignitaries were on hand to welcome Her Royal Highness upon the arrival.
Years of vision, months of hard work, and days of working around the clock by the magazine’s team had prepared for this one moment in time, and all in attendance were thrilled that the event would benefit the most worthy charity, the Friends in Need of ‘PA’ Volunteers Foundation of the Thai Red Cross Society. Many ambassadors and diplomats were on hand as well, along with distinguished members of Thai society, to present souvenirs to Her Royal Highness, along with contributions to one of her favorite charities.
After Her Royal Highness entered the ballroom and all were seated, Bangkok-based, Hollywood actor Nicholas Snow in his most high profile Master of Ceremonies role to date offered HRH a deep bow, took his place at the podium, and commenced the official program.
“Your Royal Highness Princess Somsawali, You’re Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen … I am honored to have been asked to serve as the your Master of Ceremonies for this exciting celebration for the launch of At Leisure magazine in conjunction with the At Leisure Siam Exhibition organized by Chada Communications Company Limited.
Your Royal Highness, on behalf of Khun Chadachat Jinayodhin, Managing and Editorial Director of At Leisure magazine, I wish to thank you for your graciousness in presiding over this occasion.
Khun Chadachat graduated from Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. She began her career at the Royal Thai Army Radio and Television Channel 5 as Chief of Public Relations Department. After receiving a Master’s Degree from the Eastern Kentucky University, USA, she joined the Gulf Oil Company Limited in USA. When Khun Chadachat returned to Thailand she made the transition into joining various leading hotels and resorts and had over twenty years of experience in Public Relations. In 1989 she founded the Hotel Public Relations Association of Thailand and was elected its first president.
In recent years, Khun Chadachat has been inspired. Instead of simply promoting one hotel or another as she had in the past, why not create a magazine which celebrates all of Thailand, and shares with readers’ stories of the great work and adventures of the Thai Royal Family? In addition, she wishes to spotlight Ambassadors and Diplomats, their very good work, and perspectives of their respective countries and cultures…” Hence, At Leisure magazine is born, and with the publication of the inaugural issue, she and her team seek to make living in Thailand more pleasurable and joyful for the readers of the magazine…”
Following Snow’s opening remarks, he then introduced their Excellencies and distinguished guests for their presentations to Her Royal Highness, after which Her Royal Highness officially opened and toured the At Leisure Siam Exhibition.
